I am selective when reading my horoscope. If I do not like what it says, I disregard it and go "bah, humbug"! However, when it gives nothing but encouragement, I take the words as written in stone. When my day is not going too well, I like to think there is hope for turning it around, and reading my horoscope is taking a peek at what the future may bring. Assuming of course that there is any truth to it at all.
I was once told that I would burn in hell for reading my horoscope. I do not remember who said it, I was a child then. So I looked it up. This, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, gave me an answer. 2116 - All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future". Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
That certainly took the fun out after that. I am going to stick to fortune cookies.
To this, Tessa will just say, "Pasagda-i lang gud ko", hehehe.
