We have gone fishing on lakes before. I would bring a book, Spicy Cheetos Limon, a soda, and proceed to gain a pound while Jimboy and Jason would cast their rods and wait for the fish to bite. Aside from the nibble now and then, they never really came away with much except the joy of anticipation.
For his 14th birthday, Jason wanted to experience sport fishing. It is almost an all-day thing. They were scheduled for the 1:00pm through 6:30pm trip and had to be there half an hour before. I elected not to go, it was their time together and I would have other opportunities. In other words, if it did not turn out to be enjoyable I was not missing out on anything! As you can see from the link above, they came back happy and satisfied. They even managed to win the pool for having the biggest catch. Perhaps next time, no promises though.
