Education for the Next Generation

After soccer practice yesterday, we rushed home so we could attend the dinner for Class 2013 of Saint Augustine High School. We were treated to a pasta and salad dinner buffet in the courtyard, after which there was a presentation at the gym (where coffee and dessert was served - this is important) followed by registration.

As most people know, public education is "free" in the United States and a lot of people actually base their decision on where to live depending on the school district. So why did we choose to have Jason educated in private schools where the costs are very high? There is only one answer to that - we wanted him to grow up to be a good Catholic. While it mostly depends on the family, there is no doubt that he spends a large portion of his days at school. How he spends it, and who he spends it with is very important to us.

It comes as no surprise that President Obama is focusing on education because that is the foundation for growth. We believe that having Jason at Saints will be the foundation for his growth. We can only provide the tools, the rest will be up to him. He still has one more quarter to go at Sacred Heart, but we have been very pleased with what he has accomplished.
