I swear I did not eat everything pictured here. One of the pictures prove that I am bringing a to-go box. Not that I could not, if I really threw all caution to the wind but I restrained myself. It is very easy to consume everything in front of you without even thinking about it.
When I had my first meal at an American restaurant I used to be really shocked at the portions. Now, I am ashamed to say that it seems to be normal. In fact, when we go back home, the main courses seem to be very tiny and we always end up ordering more than we should.
Obesity is one of the fastest-growing health risks in the United States, not only with adults but with children. In fact, up to about a couple of years ago, "super-size it" was the standard for fast-food chains. Thankfully, that trend seems to be dying down. There are more healthy choices on the menus although you can still of course order the Double QuarterPounder with Cheese which is by itself a whopping 740 calories. Pair that with a 16 fl. oz Chocolate Triple Thick Shake at 440 calories and large french fries at 500 calories and kiss your diet good-bye!
